Jay Z Announces Tidal Music Streaming Service

Celebrities Join Tidal

Jay Z enlists millionaire musicians to promote relaunch of Tidal music service.

Jay-Z's new music streaming service was launched on Monday at a star-studded event.

Details about the new music company were given at a news conference in New York during a live stream.

Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Usher and Kanye West were among artists that came out to show their support and involvement in the new venture.

The service differs from major competitors like Spotify and Apple Beats in that it will be owned by artists, a move that Jay Z says was on purpose.

Stars urged fans to "turn the tide" with an overflow of tweets and social media messages today.
Jay Z paid Norwegian company, Aspiro $56 million earlier this month in order to acquire the company.

Tidal will cost $9.99 a month for standard sound quality and $19.99 a month for Lossless High Fidelity sound.

Zayn Malik's First Track Is Released

Naughty Boy Shares Zayn Malik's Solo Track

Less than a week after he confirmed he was quitting the biggest boy band in the world, a song featuring Zayn Malik without the rest of One Direction has been released online.

Producer Naughty Boy tweeted a link to the track along with the words "let the music do the talking". Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, has previously worked with Emeli Sandé, Tinie Tempah, Ed Sheeran, Leona Lewis and Rihanna. The producer tweeted the song hours after having an argument with Zayn Malik's former One Direction band mate Louis Tomlinson. Louis accused the producer of "trying to wind the fans up" after he retweeted a video saying "Zaughty will rise", a reference to working with Zayn. The pair had argued on Twitter hours before the demo was made public.

So far, Zayn hasn't commented on the solo material. As the band carries on as a four-piece, Zayn Malik has been removed from the video montage which plays a…

Metro FM Fires DJ Sbu
According to two independent reports on Sunday, Metro FM DJ Sbusiso Leope better known as DJ Sbu, has been axed by the radio station.
Leope had been suspended three weeks ago for promoting his energy drink, Mofaya, at the Metro FM Music Awards as they were broadcast live on SABC1. According to sources, while his disciplinary hearing is still pending, he was given notice by the station on Tuesday that his contract — which was up for renewal in April - would not be renewed. It is not clear if his disciplinary hearing will still go ahead.
The entrepreneurial DJ will be replaced by The Link presenter Lerato Kganyago. Sbu’s efforts to promote his energy drink also landed him in trouble with business magazine Forbes Africa after a fake cover of him holding a can of the drink made rounds on social media. The magazine threatened legal action, but later reached …

Tombofara Rendition

Exclusive: Trey XL Remixes 90s Classic

You know how we feel about renditions about our 90s classic right?Well surprisingly when we heard Bryce Nation's, Trey XL's take on the Calvin and Muzi's "Tombofara" we were quite impressed and we got to sit down with the young musician.

GM: For your introduction to a new audience who is Trey XL?

Trey: Trey is just a kid who came out of the blue; Trey XL is a musician, I hate to call myself a hip hop artist because I do pretty much any genre that comes, a producer and an upcoming entrepreneur...I think that I'm the real deal.

GM: You have done something, let's say, pimped an old school song. Please tell us more about the song.

Trey: Well they did all the work back then and I just did my part, interpreted the song in my own way. It's an old school hit classic by Calvin and Muzi called "Tombofara" which is from way back when in the 90s. I don't remember the year in specific, but I was already old enough t…

Cissy Houston Breaks Her Silence

Update On Bobby Kristina's Condition

Whitney Houston's 81-year-old mother sat for a radio interview in New York Wednesday to reveal little has changed.

Cissy Houston is breaking her silence for the first time regarding her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina.
She stopped by to talk with Shaila from WBLS and told the world she will be alright if God doesn't perform a miracle on Bobbi, who has been in a medically-induced coma since February.

'She's the same,' Cissy said. 'We've moved her to a place for rehabilitation. And you know, still not a great deal of hope.'

Bobby reportedly remains confident that his daughter can come out of the coma even though doctors have told the family to prepare for the worst.

Bobbi was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia after being resuscitated on January 31 and was later transferred to Emory Hospital where she had been until this week.

Meanwhile, according to Radar Online, R&B star Bobby 'wants god to ma…

Maneta Gets Another Acting Gig

Maneta Mazanhi lands role in Rhythm City

Guess being on a reality has its way of working together for the good...

Reality show star turned actress Maneta Mazanhi’s acting career is soaring to greater heights as she made a cameo appearance on South African soapie, Rhythm City.

The actress made it to last Wednesday’s episode as a possible love interest for the show’s jovial character, Fats, played by actor Mphoe Moleko.

It is still unclear whether Maneta will have a longer running role in the show, but things are looking up for the Bulawayo-born beauty landed a role on popular soapie, Isidingo as the secretary of Nandi, Jefferson Sibeko’s receptionist. Maneta was a 'video vixen' in award winning dancehall artist, Buffalo Souljah's video "Soja Riripo" as she plays his love interest (with a lot of convincing). She also highlighted that she has acted in three Nigerian movies which are yet to be released.

Well, good for Maneta and with scripts that she has to follow, sh…
