The month of August for most Zimbabweans has been one of the most tumultuous month's in 2016 when looking at the current status quo, so the assumption is that many people have been in low spirits.

Fortunately, the last weekend of August happened to be a very eventful one be it you are into fashion, or one got to experience some of South Africa's biggest stars (Mafikizolo and K.O.), or since Sunday is fun day, take time to wind down with music, drink and company.
Unplugged Zimbabwe is always an eventful place to be on month end weekends and last Sunday was no exception as scores of youthful, hippie, socially acquainted individuals found their way to the Borrowdale Racecourse for some exciting live music.
This Unplugged saw performances from newcomer Shasha, Norman Masamba, Blacksight and of course the main act, the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi while DJs Reverb 7, TK Beats and Elroy handling the decks.

Watch: Takura MaObama Video

Takura keeps pushing himself in the hip hop direction after he dropped his second solo single 'MaObama' off his recently released EP 'Stripped'.
On the C.O.G Beatz trap single, the singer/rapper shares the story of the hustle of the ordinary person on the day to day basis. This theme has been transferred into one of the most relatable hip hop music videos we have seen this year-no bling,no 'hot' women,no popping bottles; just ordinary Zimbabweans trying to make end meet because who doesn't want a good life.
Takura takes it to the ghetto, with the visuals being taken at the Mbare hostels, one of the most overcrowded places in Harare.
The video sets to express how everyone has a dream to have better lives that's why they work so hard to get the dollar a.k.a 'MaObama'. The video has some great scenes including the burning car behind Takura,

Watch: Jah Prayzah-Watora Mari ft Diamond Platnumz

What happens when South meets East? A lot of hotness with two of Africa's most good looking artist's collaborate on a very catchy single and colourful video.

Multi-award winning Zimbabwean sensation Jan Prayzah has been enjoying taking his brand to the world during a winter long tour to the UK, Dubai, the USA and Canada to name but a few countries whilst holding the biggest  album launch of the year, held last Friday night.
Off his eighth album, 'Mdhara Vachauya', comes the visuals featuring Tanzania's biggest star, Diamond Platnumz who adds his swag to the single 'Watora Mari'.
The colourful video finds the two singers being enamoured by a lady in red, with the two gentlemen dressed to the tee. The visuals are colourful but our only qualm are the dancers towards the end of the video, otherwise picture quality, the concept and the song itself are plausible.

Review: Mile After Midnight EP

'After Midnight' goes to the space that most often seek to hide by delving deep into what it means to be young and seeking... By Elspeth Chimedza

Mile is following through with the pursuit for a musical career as he has been delivering some serious work in the past few months.
I met Mile through another singer-songwriter Mikiale a.k.a Mik, who raved about his friend and collaborator. Mile's voice made some impression on not so well produced and mastered singles however it was when I heard the 2014 Anonzi Xndr produced R&B single, 'Like Ooh' with Mik that I realised that we might have a diamond in the rough. He also made some impressive lyricism on his rap verses on yet another Anonzi Xndr production, the hip hop single 'Hungover' with then 'Rehab' upcoming artist, Boneman. 'Hungover' might not have gained commercial recognition or success but Mile definitely made it onto Groove Magazine's artists to watch in 2016 list on the 'Cl…

Album Review: Verseless Antithesis:Light

Antithesis: Light' finds it's brilliance in terms of timing as it's release creates hope and sheds light-it is the other side of life. By Elspeth Chimedza

Imagine that you're standing on the edge of a mountain or a river but you want to cross to the other side so as to reach that place that you have been searching for. In this case you need a bridge to cross-over. In an artist/producer such as Verseless one can find that bridge for that gap as he continues to connect Zimbabwe to the rest of the world as well as the present to the future.
In 2016 alone Verseless gave fans an introspective EP 'Home' which creates a diverse perception of the definition of 'home', while on the 'Reflections EP' he took us back to a time that we loved and were in- love-a time when music was music. Everything that Verseless does is intentional given the titles that he gives his projects, the way he arranges his music and the artists he then decides to work with. Being …
