Taylor Swift ft Zayn 'I Don't Want To Live Forever'

zaynmalik and @taylorswift channel their inner Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the racy yet dark and emotional music video for 'I Don't Want To Live Forever'. 
The video was shot at London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, where the two singers croon about heartbreak before finally meeting at the end of the video. 'I Don't Want To Live Forever' is off the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack and the movie is set to premier on Valentine's Day.

Gemma Griffiths to open for Jimmy Nevis

She made the class of 2016 as a star to watch out for in 2017 and beyond and the folk/contemporary singer-songwriter is up for a great year.

Gemma Griffiths has returned to Cape Town where she's now based and on 5 February at
 Vergenoegd Wine Estate in Stellenbosch she will be opening for Cape Town R&B/Pop singer Jimmy Nevis. The show is an outdoor event which will include a few acts.

Emma has also highlighted that she is currently in the studio recording music so we can expect more music this year.

2017 Oscar Nominations Show Diversity

The nominations for the 89th Academy Awards also known as the Oscars were announced on Tuesday 24 Jan. with a surprising shift in this year's nominations. After the protests and disgruntlement over the lack of diversity mainly racial and ethnic at the past two years of the Oscars (2015 & 2016) which were dubbed and trended as #OscarsSoWhite, the academy took baby steps to try and rectify the controversy. 

This year six black actors were nominated with films with people of colour such as 'Fences', Moonlight and Hidden Figures nominated for Best Picture. 
The major categories still lack diversity however Denzel Washington is up for Best Lead Actor while in the lead for women of colour is Ruth Negga who is nominated for Best Actress. In the Best Supporting category for both actor and actress are Mahershala Ali for his role in 'Moonlight' and British-Indian, Dev Patel for Lion and for the ladies all in the same category are Viola Davis for the Broadway adaptation …

Upmarket Maestro Closes Its Doors

After 4 years of giving Harareans a rather premium style of relaxing with food, drink and music popular Harare upmarket restaurant and lounge Maestro will be closing its doors at the end of January.In a press release Maestro will be closing to make way for a fuel station called Trek despite the business having done well and surviving the current harsh economic trials. Maestro for a long time was the home for house and deep house music which often drew a rather mature and at times sophisticated clientele especially during weekends. Fashion Honours Cancer at the Fashion Designers Expo

4 February is World Cancer Day and fashion is bringing awareness to Cancer at the Fashion Designers Expo which will be held at Sam Levys Village this February! The event for the worthy cause will be held on of February 11th with Aiish Boutique and Fashion Designers Expo founder Aisha De Beer, events manager Raquel Fouche and Top Model Zimbabwe's Karin Davidson teaming up to organise and host Fashion Fights Cancer Harare.The Fashion Designers Expo will be promoting local fashion designers whilst raising funds for Cancer Association of Zimbabwe with a fulll day of fashion showcases, dance competitions, pop out stores and so much more.
The event will also honour those living with Cancer or have survived it and the ones who have passed on or have family members who passed on due to Cancer.

2016 Zimdancehall Awards Nominees

The nominees for the 2016 (though held in 2017) Zimdancehall Awards were named with the 'Extraterrestrial' Winky D leading with seven nominations whilst one of the many national anthems (popular and overplayed song) of 2016 Killer T's 'Tangangodaro' is up for 'Song of the Year'. 
After winning producer of the Year at the 2015 Zimdancehall Awards, Oskid returns as a nominee in the same category as well as having his '6 Finger' ride in (popularised by Ammara Brown's 'Whatchu Want') nominated for 'Best Riddim'. Lady Squanda who was plagued by mostly controversy in 2016 finds her feet in six categories which include Best Female Artist and Best Performer.

The World Is Yours Is Number One In South Africa

He might talk a lot of smack on social media but AKA can back up his controversial and sometimes Kanye-esque behaviour with hit songs.After releasing 'The World Is Yours' in November last year on the Idols SA finale show, the song, reached number one on the Local Music Playlist Top 100 Chart. 'The World Is Yours' has been the most played local song on radio in South Africa with high rotation on all major radio stations.As fans await the release of the music video which is set to premier in February and Supamega's 29th birthday (28 January) which he will launch a birthday tour on Friday, 27 Janaury 2017 at Kong and Harem in Johannesburg, AKA made sure that he thanked his fans on social media as well as making sure that they can join him for his birthday festivities (and victory).

2017 People's Choice Awards Winners

The 20th People's Choice Awards were held the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday (20 Jan.) night with Justin Timberlake not only winning a few awards himself but also honouring TV show host, comedian and friend Ellen DeGeneres who broke records with her 20th People's Choice Awards win, while Tyler Perry received a humanitarian gong for his charity work, not to mention all the red carpet fashion and moments.

What We Are Watching: The New Edition Story For those who were preteens and teens in the 80s and 90s then the story of one of the most beloved and controversial male R&B groups is what we are all waiting for as BET will be showcasing a three-part movie series about 'New Edition' in 'The New Edition Story'.
The biopic takes a look at the life of teen sensations in the ’80s, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe and Ralph Tresvant as well as the addition of Johnny Gill; who have all achieved successful solo careers and are currently touring. August Alsina Drugs Music Video

R&B singer August Alsina had a rather quiet 2016 although he did a number of features including on DJ Khaled's hit single 'Do You Mind?' off 'Major Key'.
In 2017 the New Orleans singer announced his forthcoming album 'Drugs' and released the title track accompanied by the visuals.
In the Alsina and Amber Gray directed video, viewers are taken to a dreamy paradise where a tribal painted August sings on top of a boat and is also seen swimming below the sea where in the end he locks lips with a beautiful women woman.

OneBeat is a music exchange and incubator for music-based social entrepreneurship, where innovative musicians from around the world launch collaborative projects designed to make a positive impact on local and global communities.
