Emtee And Mpho Poops to Headline Shoko 2017

The build-up towards one of Africa's biggest urban festivals is near. After unveiling the poster and theme for this year's edition, Shoko Festival has announced the main acts. Headlining Shoko are multi-award winning hip-hop artist Emtee and top South African comedian Mpho Poops.

The 7th edition of Shoko Festival running from the 29th to the 1st of October.

The Roll Up hitmaker will be joined by local acts including hip-hop acts Takura, Simba Tagz, ExQ, Takura, and Calvin. Zimdancehall chanter Souljah Love makes his Shoko Festival debut during this edition.

Enter is expected to perform on the 29th of September. Mpho Popps will headline the comedy night at Shoko. Popps is a well-traveled act having also had stage time at the legendary Laugh Factory.

Other international acts that will hit the Shoko stage are UK Artist DJ Yoda, Norwegians Taro Cooper and Julian Sommerfeldt. The Norway acts are coming courtesy of the partnership between Shoko Festival and the Oslo Afro Arts Festi…

When was the last time that fans watched Tytan dance in a music video? Well, we think 'Mukoko' and a bit in Tendex' 'Baya'. With his UK tour, and having released the emotional video for 'Ndipe Moyo', Tytan throws in his tennis shoes and gets dancing.

Off his self titled EP 'Tytan', 'Penge Penge' follows the same Afro Pop style synonymous to Tytan. The video was shot on location at Totem Shumba Estate and the Masunda Mansion.

New Music: Chengeto 'Faya'

Chengeto is giving us flames with her new track...

After 'L.Y.D' and 'Nightym Luv', Chengeto wants to give love that's hot on the track, 'Faya'.

The mid tempo, tropical flavoured track has an international appeal yet incorporating traditinal Zimbabwean sounds. The track is produced by Military Touch Movement producer Chiweddar,sung bilingually.

Chengeto sings about falling in love and after impressing fans on 'Wachu Want', the young singer-songwriter continues to prove that talent certainly runs in the Brown family.

New Music Mr Kamera Chikoka

AKA and Anatii’s joint album “Be Careful What You Wish For” (BCWYWF) is due for release on the 28th of July and 'Holy Mountain' is the first single out.

This track is a hit and will surely f. the things up this year. Both of these superstars have never failed to deliver. That’s a great reputation they shouldn’t just give it up like that.

2017 Savanna Comics Choice Awards Nominees

The Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards (Savanna CCAs) announced its nominees in the 11 award categories. Comedians, media, and industry were the first to hear the names called out at a press lunch held on Wednesday, 12 July at Katzy’s in Rosebank. The main awards evening will take place on Saturday, 9 September at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City.

Comedians vote for their fellow comedians, determining who will be nominated and then go on to receive a Waldo (the Savanna CCA’s statuette).

Zimbabwean producer and artist Mr Kamera, real name Tatenda Kamera has partnered with Africori for world wide distribution of his musical content. After winning an afrima awards for his collaboration with US based singer SuCH, @icytatdj continues with his international collaboration as he produced a house track titled 'Freedom' for Dominika Stara.

Trust Jeldous 'BhooZvekuti' EP Launch

Trust Jeldous Montage presents 'Bho Zvekuti EP Launch which will take place at Theatre in the Park on the 8th of July 2017.

Trust Jeldous) is releasing an EP to his double CD album due out year end.

'Bhoo Zvekuti' is a declaration of hope as well as a message of determination.  It's a call to fighting the good fight of faith and a collection of his experiences; a montage of who he is. A picture of who he is and who he is to become;  call it a painting;  every song in it's uniqueness is like a colour on this portrait of his life.

His heart mostly with this project is to be real with life;  his love life ; ups and downs and his faith and love for God. He releases a new "Afro Popish" sound on the track "Bhoo Zvekuti'.

A Twist to Spoken Word And Art At Coffee And Jesus

On July 7th  from 6-8 pm at Theatre in the park SaltyLiteS Inc. will host the third edition of Coffee and Jesus.

The natural state of humanity is to have something/s to cherish and give attention to. The underlying reason for that is because we are made with an innate desire to have a reciprocation of that which we give away. The consequence of that design is that we constantly seek affirmation in every place we may find it. Coffee in the context we have defined, represents all the things we crave, desire, prefer, adore and ultimately love. Jesus represents the Creator, Him who made us to be objects of his love. Coffee and Jesus is then a *concept* forged to encourage the *fixation of our affection on God alone* through Creative art!

It essentially is a *systemic fight against idolatry* by pointing out the danger of seeking to mix our loves with a love for God. Ultimately through the unpacking of this concept we seek to promote the ideology that our affection should only be on Jesus …
