New Music: Ammara Brown 'Akiliz'

Ammara Brown has had a string of successful collaborations. In 2016 alone she blew airwaves and our screens with her performances in smash hits 'Mukoko', 'Bhachura Remix' and 'Wachu Want'.

It's been a very longtime since 'Queen Mukoko' has released a single solo. In 2017, she finally has a date for her long awaited debut album Ammartia. The Afro Pop princess confirmed that 'Ammartia' will be released on 1 October 2017.

The lead single off the album is a track titled 'Akiliz'. Produced by MTM's hit making producer DJ Tamuka and Take Fizzo, 'Akiliz' is a shonalized version of Achilles. In Greek mythology, Achilles was a Greek hero of the Trojan War. The Afro beats song is about a lover who keeps breaking Ammara's heart as she sings, "Akiliz why are you using me," before singing,"…

Tamy Sings About Heartbreak On 'Ndyeke'

So Tamy decided to play on our heartstrings and release a mellow, heartbreak song titled 'Ndyeke'.

"Ndyeke means 'let me go'. The lyrics are self explanatory. It is about a woman who has given her all in love only to be heartbroken at the end of it. She has really had enough and so she is not only telling the lover to let her go but also telling herself to let him go", she said.

Tamy's vocals travel through the pain of having a broken heart, she sings multi lingual. The song is a smooth R&B ballad produced by Chiweddar.

Grab your tissues and listen to what could be one of the best ballads from this year.

In the second half of what has been a prolific year for the top tier artists in the Zimbabwean hip hop community, we have just received a long awaited project from the talented artist Marcques, that promises to be a career defining moment for the rapper. After the drums of his hit song, 'Zunguza', sent shock waves and left ripple effects in the industry in 2013, there was a lot of speculation regarding when we would receive a full length project offering to keep the momentum riding high for the promising young star. Now, a few album title changes, radio hits and collaborative projects later, we finally have something to listen to entitled ALYVE.

This marks his first solo album and already has generated a few years worth of anticipation and excitement. March of this year, he returned as part of the new musical super group, VERYUS, with his first single of the year "Type YaMudhara", a bass driven, club friendly ode to independent women he seemingly has an affinity for…

Gemma Griffiths Returns From Europe Trip

I am back in Cape Town after a whirlwind 6 weeks in London, Europe, and a small stop in Zimbabwe for a few shows. I got up to lots while overseas - and have some fun stuff to share (including a new video!).

Above are shots from London and Rome.. I also spent some time in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Budapest and Vienna :)

In London I also attended the movie premiere for Baby Driver, starring Jaime Foxx and Kevin Spacey. This was an awesome time on the red (well it was white) carpet

So Far Sounds is an awesome organisation that sets up live shows in private spaces - such as offices, galleries, and even people living rooms. Where you can come, snuggle on the floor and watch some amazing music with a bunch of other awesome individuals. I had the privilege of being invited to perform at So Far Sounds London on this trip!

Here is the new video I promised - from my performance at So Far :)

SO - a lot of the time in London was spent working towards my debut EP which is coming soon! I am …
